1809  February 12  Abraham Lincoln is born in Hardin County, Kentucky. 
1842  November 4  Lincoln and Mary Todd marry. 
1843  August 1  Robert Todd Lincoln is born. 
1846  March 10  Edward Baker Lincoln is born. 
1847  December 6  Lincoln assumes his seat in the U. S. House of Representatives, representing Illinois. 
1850  February 1  Son Edward Lincoln dies. 
1850  December 21  William Wallace Lincoln is born. 
1853  April 4  Thomas "Tad" Lincoln is born. 
1858  August 21  The first Lincoln-Douglas debate was held in Ottawa, Illinois. 
1858  August 27  The second Lincoln Douglas Debate was held in Freeport, Illinois. 
1858  September 15  The third Lincoln Douglas Debate was held in Jonesboro, Illinois.

1865  April 4  President Abraham Lincoln visits the captured capital of the Confederacy, Richmond, Virginia. 
1865  April 14  Abraham Lincoln is shot by John Wilkes Booth while watching a play at Ford's Theater.  
1865  April 15  President Abraham Lincoln dies from a gunshot wound to the head he received the night before at Ford's Theatre. He and his wife Mary Todd Lincoln were watching a play when John WIlkes Booth, an actor, shot the President in the back of the head. 
1865  April 21  Lincoln's funeral train departs Washington, DC. 
1865  May 4  Lincoln is buried in Springfield, Illinois.
